ZB Healthy YOUth Celebrate the End of the School Year
The Zion-Benton Healthy YOUth Program celebrated the end of the school year with a picnic including potato sack races and hula hoop contests at Shiloh Park. Current and former Healthy YOUth students attended along with high school and health department sponsors Deb Will, Jerry Booth, Liane Blanck and Sarah Wright. The Healthy YOUth program had another successful year with 54 high school peer educators participating in the program, Project Sticker Shock at 9 local businesses, attending Operation Snowball with 4 other Lake County high schools, Mamas Run with over 230 participants and a host of other substance abuse prevention activities throughout the school year. The Healthy YOUth Program is sponsored by the Coalition for Healthy Communities and Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center and funded by a Drug Free Communities grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
